Busy Bee Business!

I don't know about any of you married's out there but my life seems to have got a lot busier now that there is another person occupying it! I guess that's what happens when you join forces with another person. Married life is bliss and one institution that comes with high recommendations from my hubby bub.

You'll see a lot of these and I'd apologise for it if I was sorry, but I'm not.
Now, I don't know if any of you were following my old blog www.bradfordianbridezilla.blogspot.com but on there as I was flying through the stages of wedding planning there was one website that stayed by my side through thick and thin; that helped me in my hour's of wedding need and that website was called theknot.com (for short).

Well, just as I thought this most awesome website could not get any more awesome(d) I get an email from them (automated I presume) congratulating us on our wedding (how awful would it have been for anyone jilted at the altar?), it also read that now more than ever it would not leave my side and asked me to join their brother/sister/relative website called www.thenest.com which is all about the nest.

Or rather, making a home for you and your hubby/wifey. It gives great tips and tricks on marital (nearly put martial) life and ways to make your house into a home. So far, our house is as homey as it is going to get barring a few doors that need to be hinged on here and there but this website can be a great help for any questions people have after they get married. It is indeed another website that should be given much credit for turning houses into homes (that and DIY).

I am indeed turning into what might be called a housewife. Today, I cleaned the house and actually really enjoyed it, I mean, who enjoys cleaning their house? I actually got up and went straight into cleaning mode, but the house looks ab fab so who can complain? Not me!

This busy bee is going to be in 3 places in 3 days this week (end).

Friday I'm in Sunderland with middle sister-essss; seeing to her every need for the day and possibly catching some lunch.
Saturday I'm in Preston with youngest sister-esss; helping her move some of her things from halls to storage for the summer.
Sunday I'm back in Washington with hubby-bee to go to church and generally have a good day. What is most awesome about this is the fact that hubby-bee's shifts change starting Monday and he starts on a week where he has Monday and Tuesday off so we get a nice long weekend. YAY!

Tomorrow: A review of "What to Expect When You're Expecting"

P.S. Do you like the new look?

Calling the Creative!!

Can you hear me? Helloooo??

Creativity? Where are yoouuu?!

I am usually a bit of a whizz when it comes to being creative but alas recently the mind seems to have taken a bit of a turn for the uninventive and slightly boring.

In my collection of creative-box-ness I have a pile of small canvases that I want to do something with. I seem to have a thing for anything 'vector' and anything 'tree' so a mixture of the two would look like the image presented below... but if I did the picture below then it wouldn't really be my work.

I want to do something I can put on one of the many blank walls in our house to spruce it up a little, give it some 'character' (queue very fashion diva voice) make it sort of 'pazazz'. I know, I know what you're thinking, crazy isn't it? Well I go on holiday not this Friday but next Friday and I intend to have at least a little idea of what I want to do by then.

The way I usually make a sort of creative genius is by gaining an influence from somewhere. I do this by researching what I like most - and researching it until I can't possibly research it anymore. So for example, I shall get together all the 'vector' pictures I like and all the 'tree' pictures I like, then smush them all together (yes smush - put them all in front of me and mix them up; a bit like you do a pack of cards) and pick bits from each one that I like; whether it's shape or colour or size or style and then create what I want from there.

Once I've decided which bits I like and don't like I'll sketch on a few pieces of paper the canvas sizes that I have and what order I want them to be in (they're not all the same size and shape you see) and draw on the piece of paper a vague idea of what I want. Once I've done that I'll then go on to colour in my drawing in pencil - if it looks good put paint to paintbrush and paintbrush to canvas. If it doesn't, then I'll just go back to the drawing board and start again.

Wish me luck!

A Bit of D.I.D.

Do it differently!!

I think looking back on our wedding and how much of a perfect day it was - because it really was - there is only one thing I would probably change about the day and that is - GET RID OF THOSE FLOWERS!!!

I loved my wedding flowers, they were and still are beautiful. They were perfect for the wedding and the photographs looked incredible. But, because the flowers were so big and so beautiful they covered a lot of my dress, and for many of the photos my gorgeous and very expensive dress couldn't be seen. The detail on the bodice was hidden behind a mass of beautiful flowers.

The only thing I would have done differently is relaxed a bit with my flowers. Probably put them to one side for quite a few of my photos. They look very stiff for all my photos when really, I was happy and relaxed and the day was beautiful which should have been reflected in the way I held my flowers.

It would have been nice to have a bit of direction from our photographer too. I mean, it's not like I've been married before so I don't really know what I am supposed to do. But apart from that, we loved the whole thing and yeah maybe I am being just a little too picky - but we are going to have these photographs for the rest of our lives so we obviously want them to look good.

I might get my sister to retake a few. It'll only mean wearing my massive dress days after I got married but it's fine. It can't be bad luck can it?
